KATSANA is proud to be the technology partner powering CelcomDigi x UNIMAS’s innovative healthcare solutions — MediRover and MediDoc. These initiatives mark a major step forward in Malaysia’s digital healthcare journey, combining 5G technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and satellite connectivity to expand medical access for rural communities in Sarawak.

MediRover: Bringing the Hospital to Rural Doorsteps

MediRover is a mobile 5G-connected clinic designed to deliver essential healthcare services directly to underserved communities. Powered by CelcomDigi’s 5G and satellite connectivity, each MediRover unit is equipped with diagnostic medical tools such as ENT and X-ray devices — transforming how healthcare is delivered in remote regions.

Behind the scenes, KATSANA telematics plays a crucial role in enabling seamless coordination and data automation. As a MediRover vehicle arrives at its destination, real-time GPS tracking and telematics data automatically update the patient management system. This integration:

  • Confirms service coverage and route completion
  • Timestamps patient visits for accurate record-keeping
  • Improves traceability, accountability, and operational transparency

By linking telematics data with healthcare workflows, the MediRover project exemplifies how IoT and GPS fleet tracking can power smarter, more efficient healthcare delivery systems.

MediDoc: Connecting Remote Clinics with Urban Specialists

While MediRover delivers care on wheels, MediDoc extends hospital expertise into rural clinics through digital connectivity. The system allows healthcare workers in remote “adopted clinics” to consult with HPUNIMAS specialists in real time, supporting remote diagnosis, teleconsultation, and patient monitoring.

Together, MediDoc and MediRover form a powerful ecosystem that unites medical expertise, digital innovation, and telematics infrastructure — ensuring that distance is no longer a barrier to quality healthcare.

Strengthening Malaysia’s Digital Healthcare Infrastructure

The initiative was officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, at the Hospital Pengajar Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (HPUNIMAS).

Also present were Deputy Health Minister Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni; UNIMAS Board Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie; Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Ahmad Hata bin Rasit; CelcomDigi Chief Enterprise Business Officer En Afizulazha Abdullah; Chief Innovation Officer Encik Kugan Thirunavakasaru; and other senior representatives from UNIMAS and CelcomDigi.

During the launch, HPUNIMAS, CelcomDigi, and the University of Malaya Medical Center (UMMC) also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to strengthen Malaysia’s digital healthcare infrastructure — paving the way for smarter, faster, and more inclusive healthcare delivery.

The Future of Connected Healthcare

The MediRover and MediDoc initiatives demonstrate how vehicle telematics and IoT data can be applied beyond logistics and fleet management — in this case, to save lives and extend healthcare access.

As Malaysia accelerates its digital transformation across sectors, KATSANA remains committed to empowering organizations with real-time telematics data, intelligent analytics, and cloud-based fleet management solutions that make every operation safer, smarter, and more connected.
